Oxygen Eco Tours

On March 15th of 2007, the three companions Diana Gummels, Andy Lijkwan and Romeo Gunter, joined their unique individual skills, each equally important to the field they were about to enter into, to start "Oxygen Eco Tours". The business was set up in a small office on the ground floor of the beautiful monumental hotel "La Petite Maison", on “de waterkant” number 4. The name “Oxygen Eco Tours” basically says it all; as an organization promoting eco-tourism in Suriname, the protection of our valuable oxygen providing tropical rainforest is of great importance to us Furthermore, Oxygen Eco Tours aims to operate in an ecologically responsible manner, where the involvement of local communities and cultures has top priority. 

With backgrounds in the worlds of computer automation, hotel management and catering and tour operations, we try to utilize our combined resources to promote not only the traditional local tour operation businesses, but also the greater purpose of encouraging and stimulating the overall tourism sector in Suriname.

Our slogan "We promote Suriname tourism” explains our mission.

In light of this mission we will concentrate heavily on promotion, marketing and on stimulating cooperation between registered tour operators and other tourism oriented businesses. In addition to this we would also like lend our support to the establishment of an internationally recognized quality mark for the tourism sector in Suriname.

We do not stand alone and independent in this business, nor do we believe its necessary to reinvent the wheel; quite to the contrary we aim for cooperation and try, from our central position, to promote all tourism oriented organizations (tour organizations, rentals, accommodation, etc) in Suriname.

As clients enter our office, we inquire after their interests, their budget and their preferred dates of travel, after which we contact those organizations whose products and services most closely match these desires. We also encourage tour operators to approach us to offer their tours or to initiate cooperation with regards to logistics.
