RALEIGH FALLS & VOLTZBERG

The Raleigh falls are located in the Central Suriname Nature Reserve which covers a total area of 78.170 ha and is one of the largest nature reserves in South America. The area is well known for the beautiful rapids in the Coppename River, but it is also a true bird paradise. There are an amazing 400 different bird species in the area. From the mountain Voltzberg, you can enjoy the spectacular sweeping view over the treetops in the Nature reserve.

Itinerary Raleigh falls 4 day tour  

Day 1
Departure from Zorg & Hoop airport in Paramaribo to Foengoe Island, at a distance of approximately 1 hour of flying time, heading south-west of Paramaribo Upon arrival at Foengoe island you are given a moment to catch your bearings after which you will be served lunch. After lunch you will visit the Manarie falls, where you can relax and enjoy the waterfall. This activity can be subject to change due to the water level during the dry season, when the waterfalls might have no water. In those instances you can swim by the island and/or cool off in the rapids. After dinner you are free to enjoy the evening as you please. 

Day 2
After breakfast you start the substantial hike through the jungle towards the Voltzberg, which you will then climb. During lunch atop the mountain you can enjoy the spectacular view of the vast rainforest and nearby mountains. On the return trip you are given the opportunity to cool off in the Anjoemara falls after which you will be taken back to Foengoe Island by boat and are free to spend your time as you please. 

Day 3
After breakfast you will explore Foengoe Island. After lunch you visit the Moedervallen (Mother falls), an imposing rapid which spans over the entire width of the river. Afterwards swimming at one of the sand beaches is a possibility. In the afternoon you can further explore your surroundings or simply relax at Foengoe Island. 

Day 4
After breakfast you start the return trip to Paramaribo by boat or by airplane.  

Included:
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and juice or flavored drinks during the meals.
Coffee and tea are available all day long.
A well trained guide who speaks Dutch as well as English and oftentimes also originates from the Surinamese interior.
